[ after telling elena he'll be back, (no reason to rock the boat or let her know caroline is being nice, if elena bothers caroline enough about it she may change her mind) he heads down the way towards caroline and his brother's hut. ] Knock, knock. [ it's an old staple and it's not like there's something to knock on. but he raps quietly on the thatched surface, waiting patiently. ]

[ in fact, there is something to knock on, but it wouldn't make a sound, really. she moves to stand from the bed, smoothing out her dress and setting aside the basket she's been weaving with the wheat. and yes, she is weaving a basket.]

[ which is why he doesn't knock on the curtain his brother fashioned (and which damon helped fashion his and elena's after). he moves the curtain inside, peeking, before stepping in all the way, JUST IN CASE. ] Everybody decent? [ all caroline and her... his gaze falls, head tilts ] Are you weaving a basket? What can't Caroline Forbes do?

[ she rolls her eyes at his question.] Don't worry, I don't sit around naked. [ of course, she doesn't show off the basket, but she nods.] Its not like I have a lot to do and hey, a basket could be useful... for stuff.

[ neither does his brother. ] Caroline, I'm over a hundred years old. I know what a basket is for. [ he's supposed to be nice. ] I only made a comment. On your basket. It was a compliment. I do give them out on occasion.

I wasn't being defensive, [ she puts in quickly, moving towards him, holding one of the water sacs plants, that she'd emptied and put in shampoo it. just enough for him to use.] Here. I couldn't really figure out how else to give it to you.

[ he takes it, looking down. it is just enough. ] No. This works. [ give him a second as he sees what you and his brother have managed. ] I see my brother is a better bone carpenter than I am.

[ she looks around, her mouth twisting because, well, as nice as it is to have these things, she misses home more.] He's definitely been a great roommate. [ she glances at damon, her mouth turning into a tiny smile.] Although I think he's hooking up with someone. [ she's not saying that she knows for sure but more... trying see if damon knows who.]

[ caroline has never been a subtle creature. over time, she's become more nuanced. but in times like these, her intentions are clear. not that damon knows why caroline would need to micromanage his brother's sex life. ] Do you? [ he's not quite sure why it matters. ] Is he coming in at all hours of the night? Don't tell me, he sets something outside to let you know that when the hut is-a-rocking, don't come-a-knocking.

Well, Caroline, rest easy. You could be the face of a new psychic hotline. Your feeling is 100% accurate. [ Maybe. ] Last time I checked. I can't account for the past few days. [ He assumes it's still true. He pays close attention to how she reacts to this. ]

[ now its time to play shocked, a smirk curving her lips.] I knew it. Okay so who is it? Do you know? Because I really don't want to walk in on them or anything. That'd be awkward.

Of course I know. [ but the question is why doesn't she know? is stefan keeping it a secret? ] And you... don't. [ it's pretty obvious, considering stefan has been there, done that. ]

Because I didn't want to ask him. [ duh.] I can't be like 'Oh, hey Stefan, how's it going? Who are you sleeping with? If anyone?' That would be weird.

What's weird is why you're confused in the first place. Who on this planet has Stefan punched his dance card with before? There, Caroline, lies the answer of which I found ... really obvious. I'm not saying it was inevitable, nor am I saying he hasn't been around the block once or twice, but he has always preferred his greatest hits to a one night nothing.

[ caroline, of course, assumed that stefan's partner was someone else. but when damon implies... well, she knows that he wouldn't be this cavalier if stefan had been with elena. the only other person is...]

Rebekah? He's having sex with Rebekah?

Is it that surprising? You were around during the Silas saga. [ Well, he tilts his head. ] They reunited some time after creepy Shane joined the scene and parted... I'm going to say in Nova Scotia. Why do you think Rebekah was even invited? [ Stefan invited her. ] Next you'll tell me my brother kept you out of the roaring 20's loop. Granted, Klaus did erase all that away at one point. [ And to further bring Stefan down, whoops ] Oh yeah, he Ripper'd his way into Barbieklaus' heart.

Seriously, Damon? Of course, I knew about him and Rebekah. [ still, it was somehow shocking that he'd hookup with again, despite everything.] Why else would I guess her? I just... wow.

Because of why we're all here. The name of the game is worship. And who do we worship with but people we're familiar with. Who is Stefan going to sleep with, a total stranger, a nice girl from somewhere else who lives in a hut and has no idea what the internet is, or... [ Rebekah, who he has a past with? ]

[ you get the biggest eye roll. and yes, she wants it to be anyone but rebekah.] Okay, who here is that far gone that they don't know what the internet is? And besides, he was acting like worship is... [ oh, well, that makes sense now. he wasn't doing it for worship, he was doing it because... ugh, gross, no. nooooo.]

They're not far gone, they're from inpronouncable places. Or, Tokyo. [ not that they don't have internet in Tokyo. it's the principle, he finishes her sentence for her ] Like worship is something sacred, like he should cherish it because sex matters.

Tokyo has internet. [ for all she knows they invented the damn thing.] There's nothing wrong with that. [ she likes stefan because of it.] But... Rebekah? [ she makes an 'ew' face. ]
