If I was misjudging I would've hung up on you, I would have let Damon kill Dean or done it myself before he could even shoot me a second and third time.

Like I said, Caroline. If the mist ever hits you - I hope people take that into consideration. 'cause Dean, he never touched you while in control.

Because he didn't know what I am. [Sigh] Can you even promise me he won't hurt me? When he's in his 'right mind'.

He knew what a lot of people are, didn't lay a finger on any of them.

[Oh, this is actual progress!]

I know my brother, Caroline. He feels terrible. [A pause] In our world...we met with vampires who fed off of animals once. Not only did Dean let them go, he helped hold off another hunter from going after them.

I told him I fed on animals, off of blood bags.

He wasn't in his right mind at the time. Look, if he hated you, if he wanted to kill you? The last thing he'd ever do is let me talk to you.

You could be defying his orders or something like that.

You're right I could be, I do that a lot.

[Apologetic smile]

But what would I get out of lying to you about it? I mean, that lie would be so easily exposed.

Honestly? You could be trying to make me feel safe and then kill me as soon as I let my guard down.

Yeah you're right, I wouldn't trust me in your shoes either, you're absolutely right.

But my research shows that the dead tend to come back around here, so all I'd get out of that is pushing you to seek revenge as well as messing with all your friends and the justice system around here.

I want to trust you, Sam. I know you're a good guy. It's why I wanted to befriend you instead of just avoid you, which I should have. But, like, I don't know what to do.

Just, try to keep an open mind? You don't have to decide anything right now or this week or this month. Just think about what I said, that's all I ask.

It's hard to keep an open mind when I'm dead so... I'm just going to take my chances with being more careful and laying low.

Of course, I understand. I won't contact you again but if you wanna talk, you can always call.

It's not like that... I just need time to figure things out. And I'm pretty my friends are as unhappy with you guys as I am. So just... be careful.

I lied to protect myself, to protect my friends from people like your brother and maybe even you. And what happened to me that day? It's not happening again. I'm not going to let it. If Dean comes after me again, I'm not going to give him the chance to hurt me.

He's not going to come after you if you or the mist don't give him a reason to. Time'll prove me right.

And I'm saying it doesn't matter why he comes after me, it's not going to happen like that again. I'll be ready and I won't try to protect him.

[His face somewhat hardens]

I understand. If you hurt anyone it's open season on both sides.

I don't want to hurt anyone but I don't plan on letting him kill me either.

We have an understanding.
