I do not consider myself a specialist in combat whatsoever, but tactics...well. I don't much care to lose, either. Let's put it that way.

So I want you to listen to me.

Crossbows, whatever their size, take time to reload, and they work best from a distance besides. If something is quick, Caroline, and it gets too close, your bolts won't be as effective.

You would be undoubtedly safer to have an alternative means of defending yourself on your person at all times. That is where the blade comes in handy.

[A pause...and then...]

Regardless of what you're fighting, creatures that can see all have a universal weakness. Please, keep the blade.

[She opens her mouth to tell him that she really doesn't need a knife, that she can easily overpower most things. And if a wooden stake can't take it down, then she's screwed either way. [She's so glad he can't see her face right now because she's so touched and looks it, that he'd probably wonder why. She speaks softly.] I just wish other people would too.

As do I, but it is not so rare a characteristic that it is never seen at all.
