[ elena's voice is shaky, almost frantic in its speed. not much can make her panic, not anymore, but losing damon? losing damon is... it's unthinkable. it's almost jeremy's death levels of unthinkable, especially here, even with everyone else she has to hold onto. ]

Okay I know you don't care but Damon is missing, and -- Caroline I'm freaking out. I know he's still on the ship because I saw him right after the jump but I haven't seen him since then and it's been days and I've been leaving him messages but he hasn't responded and he never ignores me and --

[ a deep, terrified, shaky breath. ]

What if he's lost, or hurt, what do I do? What can I do, Caroline, you've been here longer than me, tell me what I can do. I can't just sit here while Damon might be in trouble.

Elena. Just breathe. It's going to be okay. People get lost sometimes. And reception on this thing can be crappy. I've gotten lost a few times. Besides, this isn't his first time to get lost. [ seriously, they should put a gps on him.] He's okay, trust me. [ pause.]

But lets go wander around, see if anyone's seen him, okay?

What if he's not okay? The manticores are out there, and Klaus is here, and I can't -- Jenna's in her pod still, I just... I could handle one of those things. Klaus wasn't that big a deal when I come from, he left to go to New Orleans. Ric woke up from his pod after I came here, so Jenna will be okay. Damon... [ that would still freak her out, honestly. but probably not this bad. ]

But all three of them? I can't... I don't know what Klaus is thinking or when he's from, and I want to talk to Jenna but I can't, and I need Damon.

[ more deep breaths. she can deal with this, she can, she just... needs to breathe. ]

Yeah, I'd like that. Thank you, Caroline. I know you'd probably prefer for him to just be gone.

[ there's no judgment in her voice when she says it, no hurt. caroline has her reasons for feeling that way, and she doesn't blame her. it's sad, but that's what damon gets for being an asshole. ]
